Hi everyone, this is Gloria again blogging for my mom! She is doing better, but I think she has cabin fever but doesn’t even know it! I tried to convince her to let me drive her to Target the other day but she didn’t want to go! For someone who loves Target as much as I do turning down this free trip to Target was completely mind puzzling! Let’s just say, continue to pray for my mom!
Earth Day is April 22! It is one of my favorite holidays! There are so many craft projects you can do by re-purposing and reusing household items. One of the popular repurposing craft projects is to reuse cans. My mom took the can project to another level! Yes, just marvel at it for a moment and then read on for how to make it.
Finish admiring it? OK…here is how to create it!
First, this pencil/marker/pen cup holder was all made for under $5 bucks! The wood pieces came from the hardware store, and the pole part was cut down to size. You will need some power tools to complete this project.
If you look closely at the picture you will see that holes were drilled into the cans. Drill matching holes in the pole where you wish to attach the cans.
After you have all your pieces prepped MAKE IT PRETTY! Paint the wood and spray paint the cans. The paper on the cans is not regular scrapbook paper, but instead stock paper. Thicker paper prevents bubbling from the adhesive, however you still want to not use too much glue!
Washi tape was added to the top to give it more prettiness. Another option for the Washi tape is to use it as trim on the cans!
The labels are basically printed and laminated. Jen from iheartorganizing.com has a wonderful tutorial on how to make labels!
Assemble all the pieces with screws using the holes you previously created.
Isn’t it completely adorable? No more boring pencil/marker/pen cup holder on your desk! Be warned, it could cause some office envy!
What are some Earth Day craft projects you all are doing? Leave a link to it in the comment section!
