Can’t believe I finally did this! I purchased this book about 12 years ago. I bought large Tupperware containers to store the mixes…great expectations…nothing transpired… until, I was inspired by pinning on Pinterest. Seeing how others used these cheap glass jars with the cute labels gave me inspiration! So I bought some jars and the ingredients I needed to make the mixtures, and did it! My growing teenage boys young men will make great use of all these mixes. I made quick mix, pancake mix, cornbread mix, brownie mix, and oatmeal mix. It was messy, but it was fun! Give it a try.
I tried the buttermilk pancake mix this morning and the pancakes were wonderful, so light and fluffy and tasty! I used extra light olive oil instead of vegetable oil.
Mmmmm, mmmmm good! This is the label I created for the jars.
I created this label to share, just right click the label and save it. To paste the labels on the jars, I used the Create a Sticker Max by Xyron. I got my Xyron on sale at Wal-mart for $10.00!
Buy the book you want regret it. I have older version.

Thanks!…this is my first time doing this, after having this book for 12 years…I did every mix by the book…the pancake mix is a hit with my grand-boys! They devoured the brownie mix…was to sweet for me! Next time I make a batch of brownies I will tweak the recipe. I have yet to try the others…I will do a post review on each and every mix.

My copy of this book is from 1978! I have used many mix recipes out of it over the years. One of the biggest hits when my kids were little was the hot chocolate mix..it made a large quantity and they enjoyed it a lot. You have to tweak the recipes to your family likes-hot coca needed more creamer powder for creamier hot chocolate when made with water. I also found that pulsing the mix in the food processor made the powdered milk more powdered and less granular.
My book only has 200 recipes so I may just have to buy the updated version. Well worth the cost–which in 1978 was $4.95!

Thanks for stopping by Holly! My book sat on the shelf for years. I had good intentions at the time; I bought containers to create the mixes but I never did anything…until now. Now my grandkids have the pleasure of enjoying these recipes. The biggest hit was the buttermilk pancake mix and the hot chocolate. The jar of buttermilk pancake is empty, I have to make another batch. I’m going to have to tweak or find another mix for the cornbread, we just didn’t care much for that recipe (I guess we are so use to the Jiffy Mix). Thanks for the tips! When I take the time to make more I will process the powdered milk…♥
