Embroidered Canvas Purse

By Cynthia Leave a Comment

I love how this embroidered canvas purse turned out.  Painting on canvas with thread is fun.  All you need is a pattern, thread, needle and a small canvas purse. I love embroidering on small items (it doesn’t take long). Canvas fabric is so perfect for embroidering. For the beginner embroider this project is perfect for you, it’s a perfect size.

How I created the embroidered canvas purse.

First, I drew on paper what I wanted the purse to look like.  Next, I drew the pattern on the purse, freehand.  If you are not sure what to draw, look online for ideas, if you are not confident in freehand drawing, trace it. Make sure the pattern is centered on the on the project.

I clamp my project on an embroidery stand, it gives your hands freedom to stitch. There are some fantastic Youtube tutorials that can show you how to do various stitches. The stitches I used for this project are the back stitch, satin stitch, french knot and the long and short stitch. You can find how to do all these stitches in my playlist on Youtube, check it out (embroidery stitches).

This cute little purse is perfect for coins, chapstick, mints and all the little things that are loose in your purse. I added a small tassel and sewed in a lining.
