I’m short and I really needed a stool for my studio. I searched google for a footstool to no avail. It either cost too much or it wasn’t pretty. So I decided to make my own 12 by 12 footstool diy. My dear husband was in the garage creating my barnyard doors (that’s another post) and I saw these 4 legs that we took off a sofa on the side of the road.
Tip: woodworkers should salvage the legs off furniture that’s on the side of the road, furniture legs are expensive.
I asked my husband if he would make the base for the stool. I was pleasantly surprised the other day he made it, and from scrap wood. I was so excited, as soon as he gave it to me I immediately went into my stash of fabric, foam and padding and covered it. This is the finish product and I love it!!!
Supplies:
Staple Gun
Hammer
Fabric
Batting
Foam
Wood
Legs
Fabric Spray
The base of the footstool, it measures 12 by 12
I covered the wood with batting to soften the sides, and to help the foam from sliding.
I cut the foam with an electric knife cutter, it makes my job so easy!
I covered this with the staple gun, no glueing, no sewing!
As you can see the up-cycled wooden legs, and I will not retouch them. They are perfect just as they are.
I added rope around the edge.
I love, love, love my new footstool!!! ♥
This video is a good reference to do the corners (start at 19:00).
