Every artist whether you are a novice or expert, need an art bag, it’s very useful when traveling. This DIY crochet zipper art bag will be perfect for toting around your art supplies.
I crocheted these cute little granny squares a while ago, and the motifs came in handy for making my art bag decorative. I sewed six of the motifs together for the front of the bag.

Crocheting and Blocking the Motif for DIY Crochet Zipper Art Bag

After sewing the motifs together block them.
Cutting and Sewing the DIY Crochet Zipper Art Bag
I based my bag from this detailed tutorial:
Below is a pictorial of the steps I took for sewing the DIY Crochet Zipper Art Bag:
Cut the front and back lining, fabric, and the fusible fleece two of each. Iron the fusible to the wrong side of main fabric. The size of the bag will be how big or small you want to make it.
(optional) Sew the three together (or use straight pins) to keep them from moving when sewing the bag.
Sew the crochet pattern on the front of the fabric.
Create bias tape for ends of zipper
Sew the bias tape on each end of the zipper.
Cut the extra bias material from the zipper.
Sewing Zipper on Art Bag
Place the zipper at the top edge of the bag with the front of the zipper and the fabric facing each other, sew them together.
Top stitch zipper.
Sew zipper to the other side of the bag and top stitch.
Open zipper and flip bag where the fronts of fabric face each other and sew all three size.
(make sure zipper is open)
After sewing all three size (this is optional) sew the bottom corners of the bag to give the bag a tailored look as seen below
Here is the completed product. I love it!
